Engaging students at STEM event

Freyssinet, Corrosion Control Services (CCSL) and Aquaforce Jetting joined forces for the Big Bang North West STEM event in Liverpool in July

The Big Bang North West is a STEM (science, technology, engineering and maths) celebration for primary and secondary school children, led by EngineeringUK. The event aims to inspire young people and enable them to discover exciting and rewarding STEM based careers, talk to business and industry experts and take part in fun, interactive activities.

CCSL’s Technical Manager Chris Spence talked to students about the corrosion of metals and the importance of cathodic protection, showcasing an impressed current system which was powered up and connected to a TR unit to demonstrate how CP works. The students also learnt about concrete repairs, hydrodemolition and careers in the engineering.
