Bridge Bearings

With extensive experience in bridge engineering, Freyssinet is able to provide a ‘one-stop-shop’ for the design, manufacture and installation of bridge bearings, from assessment and temporary works design through to supply and installation.

Bridge bearings are designed to ensure that loads are transferred between the superstructure and its supports, and to enable movement and rotation. Freyssinet has developed a range of bearings, each design available in one of three different types of bearings – fixed bearings, guided bearings and free bearings, which allow for different translation and rotational movements to suit the function of a structure.

Manufacture and supply

Freyssinet supplies both mechanical and elastomeric bridge bearings, designed by an in-house design team and manufactured in its factory to the quality standard BS EN ISO 9001.

Tetron Disc (Pot) bearings Designed and manufactured to EN1337. We can also design and manufacture to BS5400 where required.

Tetron Spherical bearings Designed and manufactured to EN1337. We can also design and manufacture to BS5400 where required

Elastomeric Laminated bearings designed and manufactured to EN1337

Tetron Uplift pot bearings designed and manufactured to BS5400. We can also design special and uplift bearings to relevant standards. (Please note bearings with uplift are exempt from CE Marking)

All bearings designed and manufactured to EN1337 are CE Marked.

Freyssinet’s design team can incorporate modifications to standard bridge bearing designs to make replacement operations easier.

When bridge bearing refurbishment is undertaken, dismantling, repair, repainting, and re-assembly are all carried out to the same quality standards as new manufacture.

Assessment

Assessment of in-service bearings is undertaken by Freyssinet’s experienced engineers.

Replacement

Freyssinet’s bearing assessment and replacement service combines its pre-eminent position as a bridge bearing manufacturer with its expertise in design, supply and operation of jacking systems and knowledge of specialist construction chemicals such as grouts and epoxies. In addition, processes that are often required in bridge bearing replacement, such as hydro demolition and diamond drilling are delivered by Freyssinet as part of the package.

Freyssinet ensures that the most appropriate and efficient bearing to suit to the function of the structure is selected, and can provide additional products and services to benefit its performance, such as bearing skirts and corrosion protection, mounted spirit levels, pre-setting and anchor types.

As a structural repair specialist, Freyssinet is also able to deliver a full range of related repair and maintenance services, such as structural concrete refurbishment, crack injection, expansion joint replacement and waterproofing.
