Telford Footbridge in Shropshire has been announced as one of ten projects from around the world shortlisted for the ICE People’s Choice Award.

The prestigious industry award, voted for by the public recognises the top civil engineering project of the year. Other shortlisted projects this year include the Zhuhai-Macao Bridge in Hong Kong and The Shed Arts Centre in New York.

Telford’s £10 landmark footbridge was opened in November 2018, spans two dual carriageways and a railway line and provides a vital connection between Telford Central Train Station and the town centre.

As a specialist in bridge components, Freyssinet was enlisted by Balfour Beatty to design and manufacture the bridge bearings, to design, manufacture and install the expansion joints and also to design, manufacture and tune the Tuned Mass Dampers (TMDs).

Voting for ICE’s People’s Choice Award is now open, and closes on 27 September. The winning project will be announced on 12 November 2019.
