On Friday 8th April, Jordan Miller, aged 9, from Redditch Swimming Club’s Silver Development Squad took to the water to join in with “Swimathon 2011”, a National Swimming Event designed to raise valuable funds for Marie Curie Cancer Care.
In an attempt to raise money for this worthwhile cause, Jordan undertook the challenge to swim 5 Kilometres (3.3 Miles) and in so doing raised well in excess of £1,300, picking up some well deserved Corporate Sponsorship along the way.
Freyssinet Ltd, when faced with Jordan’s proposed challenge decided the outstanding feat would be backed by the Company and willingly donated a cheque for Jordan’s efforts. In this day and age finding someone so young with such an attitude to care and help others is a truly unique character and should be supported and applauded.
Amazingly, Jordan completed her 200 length swim in 2 hours and 25 minutes, receiving a huge cheer and a round of applause from poolside staff and other swimmers before jumping out of the pool to receive her Swimathon Medal.
